Welcome to vThistle.com. This is my personal blog regarding anything technology. It will specialize in virtualization technology, and creep into the Microsoft side from time to time.
When I was a kid in the 80’s and 90’s, all I wanted to do was play games or figure out how things worked. Who would have thought that taking all of those toys and computers apart when I was a kid would pay off 20 years down the road.
I went to Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA, and studied Information Systems Management. That kick started my career in IT. I had an amazing opportunity to get an internship with Aetna. Luckily, that internship turned into a full time Desktop Support Technician. I volunteered for a ton of projects that included working with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop. That started my love for virtualizing things – All I wanted to do was learn more. I spent 5 amazing years growing the virtualized XenApp and XenDesktop footprint of the organization. We started with only a small number of users and when I left, we were over 15,000 users of XenApp and XenDesktop..
Which leads me to where I am now. I am a data center engineer for eGroup, based out of Charleston, SC. I primarily work with customers to understand their business and their IT needs. I now try to keep my focus on VMware, Citrix, Microsoft, EMC, PureStorage and Nutanix.
I have an amazing wife (Melanie) that puts up with all of my antics – she’s a life saver! I also have a 4-year-old daughter (Clara) who keeps me busy.
